Twin towers, Malaysia | everything you need to know in 2024

Twin Towers, Malaysia, also called Petronas Twin Towers, is a wonderful architectural landmark standing at the heart of Kuala Lumpur. In this article, I am going to share the must-see things, how to get there easily, where to eat, and many more exciting things to do.

As one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world, Petronas Twin Towers has some unique features that attract visitors from around the globe.

You will be surprised to know that approximately 25 million people visit Malaysia per year from different countries in the world, and Petronas Twin Towers is a must-visit for them.

What’s inside the Twin Towers?

People are so curious about the Twin Towers and what is special about them. To mention here, local people also call it KLCC Twin Towers and Suria KLCC. The Petronas Twin Towers are 88 storeys high and offer a total of six distinctive levels for retail outlets like shopping malls, exhibition centers, food courts, etc.

Each of the shops has a different type of ambiance representing their own brand. You will find a series of small stalls (at the ground floor) where you can buy cosmetics, chocolates, souvenirs, and many more things.

The remaining 82 floors are used for hotel and commercial facilities. The famous Kuala Lumpur Convention Center is also here for the biggest parties and ceremonies.

Where to stay near Twin Towers?

Normally, tourists stay nearby KLCC Twin Towers because a lot of hotels and apartments offer their premises and provide discounts for staying nearby KLCC. But still, it will be much more expensive as you will be able to see the iconic views of the Twin Towers from the hotel itself. So, in that case, it’s a walking distance to the towers.

According to my observation, people tend to stay a little far away from KLCC, which is Bukit Bintang. You will find a lot of hotels in your budget there, and the most interesting thing is Bukit Bintang is called the tourist hub for the people.

You will find a lot of exciting things like night walks, tasting local food, as well as experiencing the special different cultural cuisines. I have written more about Bukit Bintang in my other article.

How to get to Twin Towers easily!

There are various ways to visit the Twin Towers easily, and it depends on the hotels or the places you stay during your Malaysia visit.

Way 1:

From Bukit Bintang, you will find a free air-conditioned bus towards KLCC Twin Towers. It will drop you just in front of the Twin Towers, and you don’t have to pay anything.

Way 2:

You can get a metered taxi cab and directly go to the tower. It may charge you no more than 15 RM (3.5 USD).

Way 3:

You can use an app called Grab Car, which is most popular in Malaysia. In just 2 minutes, you can open an ID on Grab Car and instantly book a Grab from your current place to the destination. (Easy and recommended)

Way 4:

LRT Metro Rail: I really won’t suggest you use LRT or Metro Rail if you are going from Bukit Bintang to KLCC Twin Towers because there’s no direct way; you’ll need to change the train 2-3 times, and it will kill your time. But definitely, you can use LRT/MRT if you are traveling from any other place except Bukit Bintang.

Note: From the Twin Towers, you may choose LRT to your destination, and it’s situated just underground of the Twin Towers. You will find security guards always there for any kind of instant information.

Top 5 things to explore at Petronas Twin Towers:

According to my 10 years of experience, below are the must-see things if you’re coming to Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia. Let’s get some small info and how to book tickets in advance.

1. Observation deck at 88th floor:

The KLCC Twin Towers observation deck is one of the most attractive things for any tourist traveling to Malaysia. You will have a breathtaking experience with 360-degree views from the top floor. During the sunset, it looks stunning, and you’ll DEFINITELY have a memorable fun time.

Ticket price:

2. Aquaria KLCC:

It is a hidden gem inside of Petronas Twin Towers. If you visit Malaysia with your family and kids, Aquaria KLCC is a must-see attraction. It is known as one of the largest aquariums in Southeast Asia, where you will see 5000 aquatic creatures from various species around the world.

This includes live fishes like sharks, coral reefs, stingrays, and you will experience a fascinating glimpse into the underwater world. It is a 90-meter-long underwater tunnel where visitors can walk through and enjoy the wonderful creatures.

Ticket prices:

3. KLCC Park:

KLCC Park is situated just at the foot of the Twin Towers (behind side), which is around 50 acres of huge parks full of natural reserves.

Visitors can enjoy the lush gardens, jogging tracks, as well as playgrounds for kids. Don’t forget to take amazing portraits of you and your family with the iconic building Twin Towers.

Entry fee: 0 (free)

4. Water Dance:

It is one of the most exciting and fun things to enjoy when you visit Malaysia. You can enjoy the colorful water dance with the beat of music every day around 8 PM to 9 PM. People are waiting for this amazing water dance to enjoy and record on their phones. It is situated just at KLCC Park and open for all.

5. Shopping and taking pictures from suitable points:

If you want to have a swift vibe on shopping, Twin Towers is the best choice. You’ll find almost all types of famous brand outlets for clothes, watches, and jewelry stores. Apart from that, you’ll find a food court at level 4 with a vibrant atmosphere.

If you want to take pictures with a spectacular view of Twin Towers and want to add some professionalism to it, I would recommend you go to the front side of KLCC, and you will find some professional photographers who can snap photos for you.

But of course, they will ask you for money for this. From my experience, they ask for 10 RM (2 USD) per chosen photo, and you can still bargain with them to negotiate. I managed to get 5 RM (Ringgit Malaysia) per photo, and it was really worth paying.

Time to visit Petronas Twin Towers:

It is advisable to visit Twin Towers from 9 AM to 9 PM at night (it closes at 10 PM), and if you want to avoid lots of crowds, you may visit on weekdays because it gets too busy during weekends.

Nearby attractions of KLCC:

If you’re looking for quick nearby places to visit from Twin Towers, I would suggest two hidden places that you can visit. These are:

Saloma Link Bridges:

Also known as Pintasan Saloma Bridge, it is a top tourist attraction in 2024 for those who want to snap a nice view of Petronas Twin Towers.

Some people call it the TikTok Bridge (for fun) because most people like to shoot short videos and Instagram reels with Twin Towers from this viewpoint. It is just a 3-minute walking distance from Twin Towers.

Entry fee: Free

Google location:

Jalan Alor Night Walk:

If you’re looking for a night city walk in Kuala Lumpur, then Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang, is the best choice for you. You will see varieties of cultural activities on the roadside, open food stalls with both local and international cuisines. On the streetside, you will see live band music every night and many more amusement activities.

If you’re looking for a bar, nightclub, or pub, you can easily find them at Jalan (Road) Alor, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

Massage services:

Finally, when you’re tired of walking throughout the day and night sightseeing, a 70 RM (14 USD) full-body massage or 30 minutes of foot massage can give you a better ending as massage improves blood circulation in our body and refreshes our mind too. You can give it a try at Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In a nutshell, I can say that Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia, is not just an architectural heritage for Malaysia; it plays a significant part in Malaysian history, culture, and pride for the people of Malaysia. This iconic skyscraper represents Malaysia as a nation with an enriched economy and a spirit of embracing progress while honoring its past.
